12U girls won their first game 5-3 against CBSC. The keeper Stella Johnson had 11 blocks 3 of which were blocked in a flurry of attempts.  Mckenzie Olney and Rayna Van Arb both scored two goals each and Ida Hart scored one. The team's passing, out-of-bounds throw in’s and defense showed to be key for the win!  For their 2nd game of the day, 12U Girls were tied 0-0 at the end of the first 1/2 against Eau Claire and ultimately tied 2-2. The keeper Ida Hart had seven blocks with Adriana Flintrop and Annabelle Beckermann both scored one goal each.  The team showed great passing skills and the defense worked hard to keep Eau Claire from breaking the tie!

June 4, 2022:  Spring Season Travel Teams @ Hayward

Hayward United Home Invitational

Hayward United hosted their home Invitational on Saturday, June 4.  It proved to be a perfect day on the soccer fields.  Thank you to all of those who helped make the day successful.  It takes many hands and several hours of volunteer work to pull off an event like this.

The first game of the day for the 15U Hayward United Co-ed team was against a fairly evenly matched Barron team.  A handful of players really stepped up this game and showed impressive aggressiveness and smart play to help the team collect their first and only victory of the day with a 2-1 score.  The second game was against Northern United, a team that came out strong with great speed and agility.  The Hayward team was plagued by penalties this game which, in the end, led to a 1-3 defeat.  The team will end their season in Eau Claire next weekend with a two-day tournament.

Hayward United's 12U Girls had two great games with great defense and long passes.  The first game was against Ashland Blue with Ashland coming out ahead 5-0.  The second game of the day was again Ashland Grey.  Once again, Ashland proved to be a very difficult team to beat.  Hayward's defense stepped up but was unable to stop Ashland.  Hayward succumbed to the Ashland Grey team with a score of 2-3.

The Hayward United 12U Boys' team began their day with a game against Northwoods United.  Although they played hard, the Hayward boys were unable to pull out a win.  The 12U Boys played their second game against Barron.  Hayward played well together and showed great teamwork.  They were able to come out ahead and defeated the Barron Maroon team.

Hayward's 10U Girls opened their day playing against Spooner.  A last-minute schedule change caused a shortage of players for Hayward.  However, Spooner was willing to help out and lent our team a few players to start the game until we were able to have a full roster.   Hayward won 4-2. The 10U Girls' second game was against Ashland.  The girls gave it their all and played well, but were not able to come out on top.  They lost 6-0. Despite their defeat, the 10U girls didn't lose their positive attitude or love for the game.

Hayward United Teams will close out their season in Eau Claire next weekend with a two-day tournament.  Thank you to all of those who participated and helped to make this a successful season.

May 21, 2022: Spring Season Travel Teams @ Hermantown

Hayward United at Hermantown

The 15U co-ed team competed in two games this Sunday in Hermantown.  Both games proved to be a struggle for Hayward United.  No goals were scored in either match.  The chilly weather impacted the players' usual positive attitude.  The team is looking forward to its home invitational on June 4.

The 12U girls team played 3 games this Saturday at the Hermantown Jamboree.  With a chilly start, the girls lost their first game 4-0 to the Chequamegon Bay Blue team.  The 12U girls came out ahead in their second game against the Duluth East Black team. Hayward United won 2-1 with Kendal scoring the 1st goal and the second goal off a corner kick by Rayna.  The 12U girls lost their third game 4-0 to the Rice Lake Stars, but goalkeeper, Stella, had a lot of incredible saves!

May 14, 2022: Spring Season Travel Teams @ Spooner

Hayward United at Spooner

The 15U co-ed team competed in two games this Saturday in Spooner.  During the first game, the team played against a co-ed Spooner team.  It was a 2-0 lead at the half, but Spooner fought back and ended with a tie game of 3-3 at the final whistle.  The second game of the day was against the Frederick-Luck-Unity boys team.   This was a closely matched game, but Hayward finished with a winning score of 2 - 1.  When a player was asked for a highlight of the game she commented on the fact that there were a lot of different people making goals and assists throughout the day.

The 12U Girls played Spooner and Cumberland this weekend. Both games were really close for a majority of the time. Both Spooner and Cumberland had coed teams.

Against Spooner, the girls did a great job being more aggressive and going after / defending the ball. Unfortunately, they ended in a 7-4 loss. It was uncertain if the United team was going to get a second game as Cumberland slowly trickled in to play. The girls worked on spreading out and passing the ball this game. Ultimately, the 12U girls ended in a 5-2 loss to Cumberland. These girls continue to improve each week, which has been so fun for the parents to watch.

May 7, 2022: Spring Season Travel Teams @ Rice Lake Jamboree

The 15U Co-ed team played together for the first time ever this weekend.  Their first game was against a strong Rice Lake Boys team.  The team worked hard and veteran keep had many great saves, but it wasn't enough to pull off a victory and the team lost 4-0.  The second game was against the Rice Lake Girls team.  Some great defense, strong passing, and aggressive offense lead the team to a 2 -1 victory in their second game.

The 12U Girls had their first game in the morning. It took the girls a bit to get into game mode but played much better the second half. Hayward lost the game 0-7. The second game proved to be an improvement. The girls worked on spreading out more and showed to be more aggressive. The game ended 2-2.

The 10U Girls played their first game against an all boy team. Intimidating to say the least but the girls continued to play strong. The final score was 0-4. The girls then turned around right away and played another game. To say they were exhausted was an understatement but as soon as they made their first goal, which was right off the bat, they sparked up. The girls played hard and made some really good passes, shots at the goal and did an amazing job blocking our goal. The final score was 1-2.
