FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Hayward United

What ages can participate?

4 to 18 years

What age group/team should my player be in?

You can check this birth year chart through WYSA. Group by the even number.

How do I register my player?

We use a software called Demoshpere for club registrations. This platform is used by the state’s soccer association (WYSA) to manage all member clubs.

Are there registration discounts?

  • Early Bird Registration: a duration of days at the beginning of the registration period.

  • Siblings: after the initial player, each additional sibling player will receive a $10 discount.

  • Coaching: team coaches and assistant coaches will receive a discount on registration.

Email us about the coaching discount.

How do I get the coaching discount code?

Email our club president at president@haywardunitedsoccer.com, to let us know you want to be a coach/assistant coach and we will send you the code to sign-up in Demosphere.

Are Hayward United teams coed?

We aim to have split teams but when needed for numbers, teams could be combined. Co-ed teams or co-op teams with nearby towns may be used.

How many seasons are there?

The soccer year runs from August 1 to July 31. Within that year, there are 3 seasons for players to participate: Fall Soccer, Winter Futsal & Spring Soccer.

How long are the seasons?

  • Fall Soccer: August to mid-October

  • Winter Futsal: Late November to March

  • Spring Soccer: April to mid-June

What is Spring Pre-Season?

Spring Pre-Season is an open invitation for players to join Futsal practices (optional). If needed, Pre-Season is also used to help train new coaches with limited soccer experience.

Do I need to order a uniform for my player?

All players will receive a club t-shirt for registering.

  • Traveling Team Players (10U* and older) must have a uniform (Travel Kit in the club store).

    • 2 jerseys, shorts, and socks for roughly $40

  • In-house Recreation Team Players (10U* and younger) do not need to purchase a uniform but are welcome to get an In-house Kit from the club store if you desire.

    • A black jersey, shorts, and socks for roughly $25

  • Check with the club registrar(s) for possible extra items in inventory.

*10U is an In-house Recreational team but will have the opportunity to travel on some Saturdays. Players will need a uniform for traveling.

Why are the Traveling teams more expensive than the In-house Recreation?

The higher cost of the Traveling teams stems from the added costs of tournament and referee fees and higher insurance. In addition to the registration fee, traveling team players will need to purchase a club uniform.

What do players need for practice?

For practices, please dress your player(s) for the weather:

shin guards, soccer socks, soccer ball, tennis shoes or cleats, athletic bottoms* & t-shirt or sweatshirt.

*Please, do not wear jeans to practice.

What size ball do I need?

  • 8U and younger (Ages 4-8): Size 3 (Junior)

  • 8U – 12U (Ages 8-12): Size 4 (Youth)

  • 12U and older (Ages 12+): Size 5 (Adult/Professional)

Why does registration end so early before the season?

Registration ends early for two reasons:

  1. We need to know the number of players so we can get the correct number of teams turned into the district for scheduling.

  2. You need time to order uniforms.

How can I volunteer?

We have multiple volunteer opportunities for parents and families to get involved with Hayward United. You can find details about these positions on our volunteering page. Sign up for a volunteer/coaching position through Demosphere when you register your player(s).
